ABOUT CHABELAJ MUSIC
Videogame and Filmscore Composer
My Story
I am an Afro-Latina composer from South Carolina. I am pursuing a degree in music composition from West Virginia University. I aspire to become a professional film score composer and have already written dozens of pieces, varying from solo to orchestral compositions. I am also an aspiring songwriter and have written some songs I hope to share with the world. I began playing the piano at the age of three, and my first official composition was scored at the age of nine. While my primary instrument is the piano, I play several other instruments, including the bass, guitar, percussion, charango, indigenous woodwinds, and more. Music has always been my passion. My inspiration comes from my feelings, experiences, and perception of the world and the people I meet. I have ADHD and synesthesia, which have played a role in my musical development both as an aid in creativity and a burden to overcome. I often feel that music expresses my emotions and imagination to a certain level and that capturing what is happening inside my head is hard.
